Project Management coordination meeting and Workshop on Curriculum Development

Co-hosted by both participated universities in Kazakhstan, the meeting in Almaty was held from 18th to 21st April 2011. Both rectors from the two universities expressed their support and stressed the importance of the implementation of the Water Resources Management master programme under the framework of SWAN project.

Representatives from the Ministries, United National development programme, regional water management specialists, professors and students shared their views and discussed the challenges of water resources in Central Asia. In response to existing and anticipated difficulties in water resources management, experts from both Central Asia and Europe developed and agreed with a common structure of the post-graduate programme. Universities from each country, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, will develop its own national programme and syllabus on the basis of the agreed skeleton.

Local media were attracted to the meeting and reported the significance of SWAN project to the public.
