Capacity building in Sustainable Water Resources Management in Central Asia
SWAN held its seminar and consortium meeting at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 22nd to 23rd March 2012.
The aim of the seminar is to exchange knowledge among faculty, researchers, enterprise specialists and representatives of other spheres of sustainable water resources management. Topics covered were researches carried in the area, partnership between universities in the European Union and Central Asia, and the study of international experience.
- Presentations on sustainable water resources management initiatives on water resources in Central Asia
- Demonstration of university research and training laboratories
- Discussion and development of the regional concept for sustainable water management in Central Asia
The event attracted external experts from International Water Management Institute, GIZ/ TWMP-CA, United Nations Development Programme and National University of Uzbekistan, scientists and specialists, professors and students. Academics and specialists in water management gathered in this two-day meeting to share and discuss the experience and knowledge acquired.
Universities in the consortium presented the website of its Water Resource Center and discuss the synergies towards sustainable water management in the Central Asia.
