SWAN closing conference

SWAN held its final meeting at Issyk Kul in Kyrgyzstan on  10th and 11th July 2013, hosted by the Kyrgyz National University (KNU).  Mr. Edilbek Moldoyev from the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan opened the meeting with a welcome speech, following by the first vice rector of KNU Prof. Ermek Usekeev and the project co-ordinator Mr. Nizar Ayadi.

The conference was divided into five sessions which allowed all participants to share the project outputs, outcome and impact brought to the university, national and regional level. In addition,  students, one of the main beneficiaries, from all the eight Central Asian universities presented their master thesis which covered a wider range of challenges in water resources management.  The event also attracted other Kyrgyz universities. 

Both of the ministries and professors demonstrated their genuine interest by the effort made over the last years. Although the project comes to an end, the work on water resources management in Central Asia will never stop as the Issyk Kul lake never freezes.
